Strategic Instruction Model™ (SIM™)
Thirty-plus years ago, The Center for Research on Learning (CRL) at the University of Kansas began studying problems in education, developing solutions that make a difference, and putting those solutions into the hands of educators, learners, employers, and policy makers. CRL developed the Strategic Instruction Model™ (SIM™) and the Content Enhancement Routines™ that we have implemented at Winston School.
Winston has a SIM Leadership Team comprised of faculty and administration. The team meets regularly to identify goals, plan literacy objectives, and determine how best to achieve them. We have brought the instructional methods and routines all the way down to our youngest students. SIM was developed for high school age students, but Winston's creative and talented faculty has modified it to work for all students. This allows for common language and terminology to be used from our youngest to oldest students.
