Advocating for those minds that learn differently

Application Process

The admissions procedure is based on consultation, application requirements, and acceptance. These steps are explained below.

Consultation

After receiving information about the school, a parent or guardian schedules an admissions appointment. At this time, the parent or guardian submits a copy of all prior testing and a non-refundable $25 consultation fee. The parental interview is necessary in order to discuss the philosophy of The Winston School San Antonio (WSSA) and to review diagnostic testing (assessments must be current within three years). Families are given a tour of the campus and, whenever possible, the opportunity to see teachers and students at work in the classroom.

Application Requirements

If the student is a candidate for admission, the parent or guardian submits a completed application and a two-day visit is scheduled for the student candidate. During the visit, the student is given the opportunity to participate in classroom work and interact socially with the student body. The $25 consultation fee will be applied to the total application fee of $100. The balance of the non-refundable application fee ($75) will be due on the first day of the student's visit.

Acceptance

After the two-day visit, a decision regarding acceptance is made by the Admissions Committee, and the parent or guardian is notified as soon as possible by phone or letter. If a candidate is not able to visit while school is in session, a Diagnostic Placement may be offered. After a student is accepted, families may apply for financial aid.
