Planned Giving

There are many ways to give to WSSA in addition to making a contribution or providing an in-kind gift.  Other ways to support Winston include:

Life Insurance
A unique way to give to WSSA is through an existing "paid up" life insurance policy. This allows the donor to make a significant contribution to the school, while receiving a tax benefit equal to the replacement value or cost basis of the policy, whichever is less. While an existing policy is preferable, the school is happy to discuss new policies with friends who believe this arrangement is the way they can best fulfill their wish to make a major commitment to educating current and future students.  Life insurance policies are a great way to give to Winston especially for those families that may not have significant personal financial resources.

Bequest
A bequest is a symbol of commitment and a reminder of the giver's concern for the future of education at Winston. There are a number of simple bequest arrangements available for donors and their loved ones. A General Bequest is a gift of cash satisfied from an estate's general assets. When a portion or all of the remainder of an estate is directed to the school after payment of expenses, debt, and general bequests, it is done through a Residual Bequest. Whatever the arrangement, including the school in your estate plans is one of the easiest ways to make a difference in the future of our young people.

Charitable Remainder Trust
The charitable remainder trust allows you to establish a trust that benefits you and/or your beneficiaries with income for a period of years or for life, then directs the remainder value to the school when the trust terminates. Remainder Trusts are commonly used in two Forms: the Unitrust, in which variable income is received on an annual basis; or the Annuity Trust, in which the annual payment is a fixed dollar amount. Named trusts are a wonderful way to leave your legacy to the school.  Your financial advisor or attorney is the best place to start.

Charitable Lead Trust
The Charitable Lead Trusts are another way to benefit your family and WSSA. With this type of trust, you "loan" an asset to the school for a set term of years. The school uses the "lead income" for the designated period of years; after that time, the asset comes back to your or your heirs with favorable tax consequences.
