Winston's STEAM Program is Going to State!
The Winston School STEAM Robotics team won 2nd place and qualified for State in the 2017 SABest robotics competition on Saturday, October 14 at St Mary’s University.
The culmination of 7 weeks of hard work, this stunning David vs. Goliath-like win will surely elevate the Winston School Robotics program to an entirely new level.
Competing against 40 other teams from across the state--many of which compete in 5A and 6A UIL events--the Winston team exceeded all expectations, winning 3rd in the semi-finals and a stunning 2nd in the final round. Additionally, Senior Jake Rivera was honored with a four-year, $50,000 college scholarship!
Only one other team was able to best the Eagles, United Technology & Engineering Magnet from Laredo, Texas. This magnet school is comprised of a team of 80 members who have access to far more resources and advanced technology than our team. We are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our amazing group of students!
The team will now move on to the State Championship for Texas Best in Dallas December 7-9. We are driven to win State and move on to Nationals!
