School Counseling
Winston’s Counselor conducts individual, brief, solution-focused counseling and check-ins, small group counseling, and regular consultations with families and outside therapists. The counselor visits classrooms regularly for whole-group counseling lessons on a wide range of social-emotional topics. Winston’s counselor works collaboratively with faculty and staff, advocating for students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs and works as a part of the Student Support Team to develop interventions to help each Winston student reach their potential.
While Winston’s school counseling program offers a wide range of support services to students — it is important to note that we are not a therapeutic or clinical program. School counseling does not replace outside therapy. Students who need ongoing mental health support, diagnosis, or treatment for more intensive emotional or behavioral concerns can reach out to the school counselor for a referral to an appropriate mental health provider.
